Constipated? Here’s how a Dietitian can help

Constipation is something many people struggle with, but it doesn’t have to be your ‘normal.’ As a dietitian, I often see clients who feel frustrated, uncomfortable, and unsure about what changes will actually help. The good news? Simple adjustments to diet and hydration can often make a big difference.

The role of fibre and fluid:

Fibre is essential for keeping your bowels regular, but getting the right type and amount matters. Too little fibre can slow things down, but suddenly adding too much without enough water can make constipation worse. That’s why Dietitian’s look at both fibre and fluid together it’s about balance, not just loading up on high-fibre foods.

How I can help:

When we sit down together, I’ll take a look at your diet and lifestyle with a holistic view to get a complete picture. We will look into not just what you’re eating, but how much you’re drinking, your daily routine, physical activity and any medical factors that might be playing a role.

From there, we’ll come up with a simple, realistic plan that helps:

  • Adjust your fibre intake and modify the types of fibre you’re eating in a way that actually works for your body

  • Ensure adequate fluid intake so your digestive system has what it needs to keep things moving

  • Identify if any extra testing with your GP might be helpful e.g. coeliac serology

  • Build long-term habits that make going to the bathroom feel, well… ‘normal’ again

You don’t have to put up with constipation

If constipation has been holding you back, I’d love to help. Book an appointment today, and we can take the first steps towards finding lasting relief.
